Hi Hans,

I am confused. I have looked at the Museum scans and have the following questions:

Is OF 20 the same as OF 8 and are there two OF20s in print 4?

This what I see on the scans:

50 ore print 2 has OF20  pos. 68
                 3        OF20 pos. 38
                 4        OF20 pos. 79 and/or pos 24
                 5        OF8   pos. 79 also looks like OF20
                 6        OF8   pos. 21 also looks like OF20

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Hej Ed,

First of all: the dots in R are not exactly at the same position - so these are two different oval-flaws.

But you are right, that OF.8 has additional signs: a dot at the top of R (placed slightly higher than in OF.20)

and a minor dot at the left top of M (did you notice that?). Both can be seen already from print 2, the break of the oval-line under D originates from print 5.

Furthermore can be noted that OF.8 always has a rather thick oval-line under FRIM while on the cliché with OF.20 the oval-line under FRIM is rather thin.

Here the positions of OF.8:

50ø2 42, 50ø3 55, 50ø4 24, 50ø5 79 and 50ø6 21.

For comparison the scan is showing 50ø5 pos.79 with OF.8 and 50ø3 pos.38 with OF.20.

Mange hilsener! Bernd
